You’ve probably seen a spate of news stories recently (here’s one example) about Progressives buying guns in the wake of events in Minneapolis. Research does show more people of color, LGBTQ and other ‘non-stereotypical’ groups buying guns since Donald Trump’s inauguration because they may feel threatened or unsafe.
Whether buying a gun makes one and one’s family safer isn’t really a complex question—statistically, the answer is no. Nevertheless, it is a personal decision with variables that require careful consideration.
A great place to start looking for answers is this Armed With Reason Substack and at GVPedia.
The number one rule: If you do choose to own a gun, please, store it safely.
