But Do Gun Laws Really Work?

Thank you for asking, and yes. They do. The chart above, from GIFFORDS, shows the relationship between state gun laws and the rate of gun deaths. As of 2025, Colorado ranks #15, lower than most (but still too high). As you can see, states with the loosest gun laws—Mississippi, Alaska, Wyoming, Alabama, and Louisiana, to name a few—have the highest death rates. States on the lower end of the death-rate scale—New Jersey, California, and Connecticut, for example—consistemtly have lower gun death rates per capita.

Hyperbole and politics aside, this is it. This is the evidence that gun laws save lives, in Colorado and elsewhere. This is why Colorado Ceasefire does what we do.
