Schools Outreach

Firearms are the leading cause of death for US children. Accidental injuries, suicides, community violence, and school shootings are having an unprecedented impact on the mental and physical safety of America’s students.

Colorado Ceasefire offers a variety of free resources for discussing gun violence prevention strategies with students, parents, educators, and school administrators. Our workshops and trainings are non-political and can be adapted to fit the needs of your community. Our curriculum is aligned with the Centers for Disease Control Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool and Colorado Department of Education Comprehensive Health Standards.

For Educators and School Administrators

Educators and School administrators have Extreme Risk Protection Filing Rights. In this presentation, Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs) are thoroughly explored as a powerful tool for preventing potential gun violence. The presentation highlights the legal framework and procedures involved in obtaining and enforcing ERPOs, along with examples of successful cases in which these orders have prevented tragedies. Additionally, this presentation provides in-depth ERPO training and discusses specific details and circumstances that are more relevant to educators and school administrators.

For Parents

We host conversations with parents to discuss why gun violence is a public health issue and ways to reduce gun violence without getting political. In addition to ERPO and Safe Storage, parents discuss how gun violence is impacting youth. This conversation can also include school administrators to discuss specific safety policies within the school district.
