Colorado Ceasefire Executive Director Laney Sheffel recently visited with Emily Kobayashi Woods and her students at Lester Arnold High School in Commerce City to discuss the power of art to drive social change. Students discussed how gun violence impacts their lives and created their own ‘Stop Gun Violence’ posters.
“The project that Laney led at Lester Arnold High School through her workshop was highly engaging for students in my classroom,” Emily said. “The students at LAHS brought their own stories and perspectives to the Art for Change project. Many of the students chose to create their own poster to show a more positive world without gun violence or the ways that gun violence can hurt our communities. I believe this was a very successful project that showed students real-world connections to people working to make a difference in our state.”
