Colorado Ceasefire PAC announced last week that it has endorsed Attorney General Phil Weiser in his campaign for Governor.
Calling Weiser a ‘proven supporter of gun violence prevention,’ Ceasefire PAC cited Weiser’s actions as Attorney General, including:
- Successfully defending before the Colorado Supreme Court Colorado’s 2013 law Prohibiting the transfer and possession of large capacity magazines
- Successfully defending a 2019 challenge to overturn Colorado’s Extreme Risk Protection Order law establishing an ERPO task force and obtaining a grant for ERPO training
- Currently defending Colorado’s recently-enacted assault weapons permitting program
- Suing the federal government and U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi to stop the ATF from returning ‘forced reset triggers’ which convert weapons into machine guns.
Weiser’s name will appear first on Colorado’s Democratic gubernatorial primary ballot after his win last weekend at the party’s state assembly in Pueblo. He faces U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet in the June 30 primary for the office held by Polis, who is term limited. Bennet petitioned onto the ballot and didn’t participate in the party assembly.
