The most popular YouTube channel dedicated to guns, Demolition Ranch, will shut down later this year, reports The Smoking Gun.
Although one might suspect the move is related to the significant negative attention the channel received after the gunman who attempted to assassinate President Trump at a Pennsylvania rally was found wearing a Demolition Ranch T-shirt; or that new YouTube firearm policies have made it harder for him to make money on the platform; or that his channel’s average monthly views have dropped by 10 million since 2022; channel owner Matt Carriker says he just wants to spend more time with family.
Carriker said in a video that he had “surpassed every single goal” as a YouTuber and that he and his wife “realized our kids are getting old really fast, and they’re not going to be in our house a whole lot longer, and that’s hit us real hard.”
Besides the videos, Carriker runs Bunker Branding, a company he founded in 2017 to produce branded apparel for his channel and other GunTubers. Among products offered by the company was the ‘Make Politicians Afraid Again’ hat, which it stopped selling after the assassination attempt.
