CO Ceasefire Statement on Surgeon General’s Report on Gun Violence

DENVER, JUNE 25, 2024–Colorado Ceasefire today issued this statement on today’s historic US Surgeon General’s declaration of gun violence as a public health crisis:

‘We are grateful that after years of pleas for action, the US Surgeon General’s Office has taken this tremendous step. Many of Dr. Vivek Murthy’s recommendations–such as increased funding for research into gun violence prevention, safe storage laws, universal background checks, ‘red flag’ laws, and other common-sense measures–are already in place in Colorado. Colorado Ceasefire pledges to keep up the fight to make Coloradans safer where they live, work and play.’
