A Farewell (for now) Note from Adam Shore

To all Colorado Ceasefire volunteers, supporters, and friends:

As we announced at our 25th Anniversary Gala, I am leaving my position as Colorado Ceasefire’s Executive Director as of June 1. Life’s other challenges call, and I’m headed back to Australia to care for my father. A few words of thanks as I move on to what’s next…

I want to thank all our supporters who have helped build this small but mighty organization. Like anything worthwhile, it has been a bit bumpy along the way—change and growth are never painless with limited resources and the work of reaching across cultures and communities. But we definitely have the engine running! I am beyond excited to see what this transition brings.

Having worked the last few years to develop Colorado Ceasefire into a stronger organization, I’m proud to say we have a formidable team in place for this next phase. Our current Program Director, Laney Sheffel, will be stepping in as Interim Executive Director. Laney and our staff, backed up by our boards, will move the dial fast! I hope you all feel excited about it too. I’m grateful our team can count on your ongoing support, work, and commitment to the movement against gun violence.

For me, an especially hard part about leaving is not being here to help resist the chaos our society is in right now; the loss of funding to so many of our partners, the federal attack on gun safety, and common sense. Trying to look for brighter points in it all, we are determined to use this as an opportunity to build our base and broaden our appeal. We see firsthand that people need ways to engage, and Ceasefire can help them. It’s a good time for ‘galvanizing the movement,’ and we need your help to make that happen! Please tell your friends, family, and anyone else about the work Ceasefire has done and continues to do to make our communities safer— you can start by sharing this email with someone you know would be interested in our message. Reaching out to one person at a time is how we have built Ceasefire Outreach and how the movement will continue to grow.

Thank you again for everything you have given us over the past few years. I plan to stay involved with Colorado Ceasefire when and how I can, and I hope to see you out there in the trenches. Keep up the good fight!

– Adam
